Revisiting James Gladstone's 7 Jacksonville Jaguars' trades in 2025

Manage your account ... In his first season as the Jacksonville Jaguars' general manager, James Gladstone showcased that he is more than willing to make a trade. Excluding the NFL draft, Gladstone made seven player trades during his first year as the GM. So with the offseason here, let's reflect on each of those moves. Gladstone made this deal in mid-March. In return, the Jaguars received a 2026 seventh-round pick. The move freed up $10.43 million in cap space for the Jaguars in 2025. Injuries, however, forced Kirk to miss time, with him playing in 19 out of 34 games over the final two seasons with Jacksonville. With Houston, Kirk played in 13 games, catching 28 passes for 239 yards with a touchdown. In the Texans' playoff win over Pittsburgh, Kirk caught eight passes for 144 yards with a score. This was a player-for-player trade with the Jaguars trading center Luke Fortner to the Saints for defensive tackle Khalen Saunders. With the Jaguars signing Robert Hainsey in free agency and then drafting Jonah Monheim, the center position on the 53-man roster was covered. At the time, Saunders bolstered the depth at arguably the Jaguars' biggest position of need. However, Saunders was rarely active on game days and was eventually released mid-season. In return for sending Fred Johnson to the Eagles, the Jaguars got a 2026 seventh-round pick. This move was made prior to roster cutdowns, so instead of releasing Johnson at that time, Gladstone was able to get a draft pick in return. Before roster cutdowns even took place, there were signs that the Jaguars were looking to add to the receiver room. They ended up doing so by trading a 2026 sixth-round draft pick to the Lions for Tim Patrick. Patrick has provided the Jaguars with veteran depth at an otherwise relatively young position group. As the season progressed, he overtook Dyami Brown on the depth chart and filled in when Jacksonville was navigating injuries at wide receiver. Patrick caught 15 passes for 187 yards with three touchdowns. For Bigsby, the Jaguars received a 2026 sixth-round draft pick from the Eagles. Ultimately, this deal was made because of a crowded running back room. Bigsby totaled 344 rushing yards and two touchdowns with the Eagles. In addition to Campbell and Newsome switching teams, the Jaguars and Browns exchanged late-round 2026 draft picks as well. By moving on from Campbell and his contract, the Jaguars gained added financial flexibility in 2026 and beyond. With the Jaguars, Newsome allowed a completion rate of 68% on 56 targets at 11.7 yards per reception. He logged one interception and one pass breakup. Newsome will be a free agent in 2026. To acquire Meyers, the Jaguars sent a fourth-round pick and a sixth-round pick in the 2026 draft to Las Vegas. This was a home run deal for Gladstone. Meyers brings a reliable presence to the Jaguars' receiver room, and he is a very good fit for the Liam Coen offense with his ability to play inside and out, along with his willingness to do the dirty work at the receiver position. Meyers has since been extended. This article originally appeared on Jaguars Wire: Evaluating every Jaguars trade made by James Gladstone in 2025
